The Unreal Engine seems to have some similarities with Unity, making it relieving to know it won't be too big of a jump. Blueprints also seem much more powerful than something like Unity playground, having seen how many blocks are available. The engine uses C++ instead of Unity's C#, but I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out more. I think it will take a lot of time to learn everything I need to learn to properly use this engine, but it will be worth it due to its capabilities and industry popularity. I think there might be a lot of potential for these blueprints, but I think I'll just be focusing on the C++ side of things due to experience with coding. Obviously I'm not experienced with Unreal yet, but it seemed like they had some really interesting material options. Obviously I would recommend the engine to others.
For this project, I am using the above tutorial to create a game in which the player plays as a third person character collecting energy balls until running out of energy (it continually drains over time). Note that there are two other games included in this tutorial which I will not be creating. I chose this tutorial in particular because I wanted to learn C++, rather than the more accessible but limited blueprint system.
