Afterwards

Working with Unreal Engine was sort of a nightmare. Online support is terrible. It took me a bit to even find a tutorial that uses actual C++ coding instead of blueprints. Whenever I clicked on a forum post about an error I was having, the responses either didn't exist or went along the lines of "I just redid everything from scratch and it worked". Any bugs I ran into I fixed pretty much entirely on my own off of intuition, but mostly luck. I think I ran out of it at the end because I eventually struck a problem I couldn't fix (though most of the implementation from the tutorial is there). C++ is foreign to me, but I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out with enough examples. It should get easier in general with time and experience, but I'm going to have to get there first before I can actually make anything capable with it. The good side of this engine? It's incredibly useful and popular in the industry. It's something I need to learn as a game developer. Also, I may want to some day take advantage of Unreal's flexibility if I want to work on a much more ambitiously unique game. It's an engine I would recommend, but never to a beginner.
